Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous, or S.L.A.A., is a program for anyone who suffers from an addictive compulsion to engage in or avoid sex, love, or emotional attachment. We use the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to recover from these compulsions.

Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) is a twelve-step program for people recovering from sex addiction and love addiction. SLAA was founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1976, by a member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Though he had been a member of AA for many years, he repeatedly acted out and was serially unfaithful to his wife. He founded SLAA as an attempt to stop his compulsive sexual and romantic behavior.[1][2][3] SLAA is also sometimes known as the Augustine Fellowship, because early members saw many of their shared symptoms described by St. Augustine of Hippo in his work Confessions.[4] COSLAA is another twelve-step fellowship created to support the family members and friends of sex and love addicts.*
*This paragraph taken from here.
S.L.A.A. may have begun in 1976 but for members of our fellowship their stories become part of our recovery community history. We are aware of the addict who still suffers and exist to bring the message of hope and recovery to those who still suffer. We work for the day when the suffering addicts story intersects with ours and a new life of recovery begins.
As we are reminded in the AA big book, "This painful past may be of infinite value to...others still struggling...howing others who suffer how we were given help is the very thing which makes life seem so worth while to us now. Cling to the thought that, in God's hands, the dark past is the greatest possession you have - the key to life and happiness for others. With it you can avert death and misery for them." In S.L.A.A. we get healthy for ourselves and then give away the blessing of recovery to others.
